After many years of working together, the two brothers have stepped down from the company and handed over the reins to a new team. A young team is now carrying on the legacy of Kohlmaier with fresh ideas and new perspectives—always mindful of the long tradition that has shaped the company since 1884 and remains an essential part of its identity to this day. The trust placed in us to lead this company into the future fills us with deep gratitude and a sense of responsibility.

Family
Kohlmaier is a family business with a long history. Since 1884, the craft has been passed down from generation to generation—rooted in Carinthia, grown in Vienna. What began as a saddlery and upholstery business is still characterized by the same attitude today: respect for the material, precision in detail, and the desire to create furniture with character.
Peter Kohlmaier is a trained upholsterer and passed his master craftsman's examination in 1986. Together with his brother Bernd, a trained cabinetmaker, he developed a close synergy between design, furniture upholstery, and craftsmanship over many years. With Sarah Kirschner, Peter Kohlmaier's daughter, the fifth generation has been part of the company since 2022. She brings her experience from the creative, craftsmanship environment and continues the family line with a contemporary perspective.

The workshop is the heart of Kohlmaier. This is where upholstery work, traditional techniques, and modern knowledge come together. Whether it's fabric for covering furniture, custom-made foam, or complex special solutions—every project is individually designed and precisely implemented.
Our team consists of people from a wide variety of backgrounds, united by a passion for craftsmanship. As upholsterers in Vienna, we work every day to make the seemingly impossible possible—with experience, patience, and the standards of an upholsterer in Vienna who leaves nothing to chance when it comes to quality.
